Cavinti
is approximately 122 kilometers from Manila, 11 kilometers from
the provincial capital of Sta. Cruz, and 9 kilometers from Pagsanjan,
Laguna. Cavinti, located at the foot of the Sierra Madre Mountain
Range, is generally hilly and mountainous with elevation ranging
from 2,300 to 2,400 meters above sea level.There are five (5) rivers
that traverse and interconnect with one another in the town of Cavinti,
and the two which are the source of the famous Magdapio Falls, which
is now known as Pagsanjan Falls; the Cavinti and the Bumbongan Rivers.
The other rivers are Coloycoy, Lumot, and Caliraya.
Famous
sites are the man-made Caliraya and Lumot Lakes, which feed later
to the Kalayaan Hydroelectric Power Plant. The lakes cover 1,834
hectares of land and 76.9 hectares of water resources. There are
windsurfing and water skiing competitions held every year at Barangay
Kanluran Talaongan and Water Skiing Clubhouse. An annual angling
sport fishing competitions are also held at the lake. Another place
to visit are the Japanese Memorial Garden.
