DepEd Region IV-A Director
George Garma said the staging of the NSPC, considered the mental
counterpart of the Palarong Pambanasa, the country’s premier
sportsfest, is in line with the Campus Journalism Act, which institutionalized
campus journalism in all public and private schools.
NSPC is highlighted
by individual writing competitions, namely, news writing, feature
writing, sports writing, editorial writing, copyreading and headline
writing, photojournalism and editorial cartooning. The writing
derbies are preceded by lectures on various forms of writing by
prominent national media practitioners. It also features group
contests where the country’s best school newspapers are
selected largely based on their editorial contests. # (PIO-Laguna)
