In
the line with Laguna Gov. Teresita "Ningning" S.
Lazaro's Sulong Edukasyon program that is under the flagship
7-Point Agenda of the Provincial Government, Scgolars Orientation
was held yesterday and last Tuesday in different parts of
the province for the deserving Lagunenses.
Over
1000 students from the 3rd District of Laguna trooped to San
Pablo City Central Elementary School and over 700 from the
4th District rushed to Sta. Cruz Central Elementary School
in Sta. Cruz town trying to avail the scholarship priviledges
dubbed as Top Scholars of Laguna (TSL) and sponsored by the
Provincial Government.
Last
Tuesday, over 1300 Lagunenses from the 1st and 2nd District
attended the orientation at Biñan National High School
in Biñan, Laguna and at LIC Auditorium Central II Elementary
School in Calamba City.
Initially
called as Study Now Pay Never, TSL aims to support the college
schooling of every deserving Lagunenses. And since its implementation,
countless students in the whole province have already benefited
and are now reaping the fruits of their labor. Being once
a teacher, Gov. Lazaro stressed that programs on youth are
one of her administration's priorities, particularly education.
During the orientations, she also said that she is determined
to push the Laguna University project as the extension of
Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, aside from the construction
of more school buildings and other projects.
Gov.
Lazaro urged and challenged the scholarship aspirants to live
up to the ideals of Rizal as they prove that they really are
the Hope of the Nation. "Sulong Edukasyon! Sulong Laguna!
KAYANG-KAYA 'PAGSAMA-SAMA!" Lazaro added.
