1.2 CHATS First Historical Ride to Success (SM to SM)

(HACD-LTCAT Office)

The San Pablo City CHATS or Culture, Heritage and Tourism Society in cooperation with the History, Arts & Culture Office (now HACD) successfully made the first historical ride, Sa Mangga (SM) to SM City Mall in San Pablo City. The newly-formed cultural group was headed by Dr. Elvira Galicia as its President. Ms. Carmela Quisimbing & Ms. Elinor Cabagay as the chair. The group assembled at the "heritage Mango  Tree" near the plaza where the antique BLTB Bus was parked. It was through the kindness of Don Ado Escudero that this "heritage BLTB Bus" was exposed to general pulic once again. It has entrance & exit on all sides that makes it unique and tourist-friendly.

The CHATS members were all in Filipiniana dress and Barong tagalog. The trip from Mango Tree to SM City was viewed by awe-strucked people along the Rizal Ave.. The BLTB Bus filled with people in Filipiniana/Barong attire with balloons was a unique and wonderful sight. It reached the SM Mall in almost 20 minutes due to traffic created by the convoy. The historical exhibit was about the old San Pablo and its Tourist Spots and some local products.

A short program followed with the officials of San Pablo headed by Vice Mayor Angelita Yang, Coun.Angelo Adriano, Committee Chairman Tourism & Culture and Coun. Arnel Ticzon-Vice Chairman Tourism & Culture.

The affair was hosted by Ma. Cristina O. coronado and Ms. Donalyn Eseo, Tourism Officer of San Pablo. (Article by: Ma. Cristina O. Coronado)
