HACD-LTCAT Office

October of every year was declared as the Museum and Galleries Month. Most of these cultural institutions are open to the public for free or at discounted entrance fees at this time of the year. HACD-LTCAT Office coordinated with the UST Museum, Katipunan Museum of San Juan City and the Ayala Museum for a museum tour for the Cultural and Tourism Officers of Laguna.

The UST Museum housed fauna collections and some ethnological materials, chinese vases, weaponry and shells collections. A replica of the first printing press machines was also displayed. The Papal Chair, which was used by now beatified Blessed John Paul  II was also one of the main display. At the Mezzanine one will find antique religious images dating from 1800’s, Ivory statues as well as Silver adorned statues.

Next stop was the Katipunan Museum which showcased the history of the Philippine Revolution in Diorama presentation and the history and memorabilia of the Katipunan. The staff of HACD were welcomed by the Tourism Officer Ms. Lheng Alejo on behalf of Mayor Guia Gomez.

The last stop was at the Ayala Museum. The group was amazed by the Gold Collection of the museum. The painting collection adorned the walls of this cultural institution. The highlight, still were the Dioramas which clearly showed the Philippine History. The group felt proud to know that some members of the Artisans’ team who made this famous diorama were Paeteños. One of whom was Mr. Esmeraldo Dans,  which proved that Laguneños are really talented artists. (Article by: Ma. Cristina O. Coronado)
