Laguna Governor Jeorge “E.R.” Ejercito Estregan and Laguna Police Provincial Office (Laguna PPO) Chief P/SSUPT Gilbert Cruz turned-over 100 armchairs to principals Lourdes Gecolea and Ronaldo Cambel Bagong of Sta. Cruz Central Elementary School and Bayan Elementary School, respectively.

The said activity was conducted at Camp Gen. Paciano Rizal in Sta. Cruz, Laguna last May 31, 2012 in line with the commitment of the Provincial Government of Laguna and Laguna PPO to the Oplan Balik Eskwela 2012, a campaign initiated by Department of Education in preparation for the opening of classes in most public schools today.

The said armchairs were made from the illegal logs (Batino, Malapapaya, Dalindingan, Yakal and Malaruhat species)confiscated by PGL, Laguna PPO, Philippine Army, and Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO), and City and Municipal ENROs of Laguna with the launching of Oplan Berde (Boost our Environment Resources for the Development of our Ecosystem) last April 13.

Three thousand (3,000) more armchairs are expected to be made from the 250,000 board feet of illegal logs that are kept by Laguna PPO. (Article and photos by Gerardo B. Tomandao/Edward C. Aquino)
