VISION

We will be the best province in the Philippines to produce competitive, professional, and world-class athletes that will inspire camaraderie and harmony to all Filipinos.

MISSION

To produce world-class athletes from the Province of Laguna by encouraging the development of positive attitudes and values towards physical fitness, and skills acquisition through play, training, and competition, and by providing continuous and comprehensive sports development programs in the grass root level. We will be the Provincial Sports Capital of the Philippines.

OBJECTIVES
  1. Encourage, manage, and control all sports discipline in the Province of Laguna
  2. Represent the interests of all sports disciplines and athletes within the province of Laguna at national level;
  3. Encourage the development of socially desirable attitudes and values towards physical fitness and skills acquisition through play, training, and competition;
  4. Encourage sports competitions not affiliated with PSGDO to apply for affiliation;
  5. Provide access for individuals to participate in the sports they like in the Province of Laguna; and
  6. Provide individuals with opportunity to maximize their potential by competing in the highest level of athleticism possible, given their own abilities;
  7. Encourage and assist the formation of clubs and teams to take part in competitions conducted by the PSGDO;
  8. Establish, manage, promote, and sanction competitions;
  9. Promote and sanction clinics, coaching schools, inter-town, intrastate, and national matches and competitions which will create or heighten public interest in all sports disciplines and Laguna in particular;
  10. Provide social, dining, entertaining, and associated facilities for its members;
  11. Formulate or adopt or implement appropriate policies, including policies in relation to sexual harassment, equal opportunity, drugs in sport, health, safety, infectious diseases, and such other matters as arise from time to time as issues to be addressed in sport disciplines.

In pursuit of these objectives, the PSGDO may seek to:

  1. Provide and support assistance for affiliated associations in all areas of their operations;
  2. Act on behalf of affiliated associations in negotiating sponsorships, liaison with governments, and other authorities;
  3. Encourage and support affiliated associations to identify talented athletes and foster their developments;
  4. Authorize, and be responsible for, the management, coordination, and control of all such provincial and other championships and competitions as shall be decided upon by the PSGDO to ensure the highest standards of play, administrations, and officiating;
  5. Choose and manage teams to represent Laguna;
  6. Provide access to provincial, national, and international competition;
  7. Affiliate with PSGDO and actively promote, foster, and develop all sports discipline within the province of Laguna and Philippines;
  8. Hear, determine, settle, and resolve disputes relating to affiliated bodies and members of affiliated bodies in connection with sports in the province of Laguna;
  9. Seek sponsorship for various programs and events, and endorse products which will be consistent with projecting the best image of the Laguna Province and its athletes;
  10. Deal with any matters which the association may deem to be in the interest of all the sports in the Province of Laguna.
PATHWAY TO SPORTS

The Provincial Sports and Games Development Office is dedicated to the continual growth of our athletes and coaches through clinics, camps, education, and resources. We provide a clear and defined pathway for our athletes, coaches and officials through the sport from grassroots level, to international competition.

Participation/Introductory Programs. PSGDO runs the Governor’s Cup, Fun and Play and Laguna Hoop Time programs for primary schools at RECS Village. Governor’s Cup is run in conjunction with affiliated associations.

Domestic Sports Competitions. Local sports associations and stadiums run domestic sports competitions around the province. These competitions cater for the under 8-25 junior age groups, as well as adults.

Representative Competitions. Talented players are selected by associations to play in representative teams. The Gov E.R.Batang Laguna League caters for players up to the under 25 age group and there are various open age representative leagues, such as Inter Clubs, Inter Municipalities, Inter Towns, Inter Barangays etc.

Provincial Intensive Training Program (PITP). Outstanding athletes aged 8 – 25 are selected from a series of identification camps to participate in the PITP Program run by PSGDO.

Provincial Junior Championships. Batang Laguna Sports Council hosts annual Batang Laguna Olympics in junior age groups. Batang Laguna sends representative teams to these championships.

National Junior Championships. Batang Laguna Sports Council sends/hosts junior national teams to represent Laguna every year at Palarong Pambansa Championships, Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA), League of Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (LCUAA), and State Colleges, Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA).

National Leagues. Elite players also compete in the National Athletic League, and other National Sports Events.

International Tournaments. At the highest level, Batang Laguna teams compete in International Championships, SEA Games and other international events.

STRATEGIC PLAN FOR SPORTS DEVELOPMENT

The Provincial Sports and Games Development Office Strategic Plan for Sports Development sets out the priorities and objectives which when implemented will see us through to the next level of our development. Achieving this plan will require the support of the entire sports community, local governments, and all of our local partners. It is together that we will achieve the ultimate success.
