1.1 June 19, 2011 – Rizal @ 150 Grand Celebration with Pnoy in Calamba City

It was a blessed rainy morning on June 19, 2011 marking the 150th Birth Anniversary of our foremost National Hero Dr. Jose P. Rizal, when guest’s and participants came one after another at the Rizal Shrine. Foreign dignitaries and military officers were met by usherettes by the side gate of the compound. By 6:30 am, advise come from the Presidential Management Staff (PMS) that the Hon. Gov. Jeorge “E.R.” Ejercito Estregan will receive His Excellency Pres. Benigno S. Aquino III at the newly installed 22 ft. Rizal Monument across the Calamba Capitol.
At around 8:00 am, Pnoy was accorded Presidential arrival honors in front of the Rizal Shrine. Receiving the head of state were Mayor Joaquin Chipeco, Jr., Cong. Justine Chipeco, Executive Dir. Ludovico Badoy and Dr. Maria Serano Diokno both executive officers of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) along with the Rizal’s descendants. It was followed by the Flag Raising, wreath-laying to the Boy Rizal monument and a tour of the museum with the assistance of its curator Ms. Malou Valeza and the city officials.
The foregoing’s at the rizal Shrine was telecast live at the NBN government channel and through the LED monitor set at the new Rizal Monument. After few more minutes, Pnoy went to the area to formally inaugurate and unveil the gigantic hero, made by the artist from Marikina. The crowd was estimated at around three thousand (3, 000) who were government officials, cabinet member DOJ Leila de Lima, Usec Puno of DILG and other VIP’s occupied the front row. The next row was for the diplomatic community and other government heads like Mr. Jeremy Barns of the National Museum, side by side with the congressmen.
President Noynoy’s arrival was met by the top Laguna official, Gov. ER Ejercito they, along with other VVIP’s went straight to the Unveiling of the Rizal Monument. It was followed by a program where the ER Tablet was presented to Pnoy.

1.2 June 17, 2011 – Rizal @ 150 Celebration at the Provincial Capitol of Laguna

Dr. Jose Rizal’s 150 Birth Anniversary Celebration is considered as a milestone in the Philippine history. It was spearheaded by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) and supported by all government agencies, local and national as well as the academe and NGO’s. The Provincial Government is a member of the National Organizing Committee – Technical Working Group through the History, Arts and Culture Division – LTCAT Office.
The historical event was divided into three major program parts. At 7:00 am the 150 kilometers “Bike for Fun” as Rizal as a Sportsman arrived the provincial Capitol Compound led by Col. Gilberto DC. Cruz the very able and also a history buff Provincial director of PNP-Laguna. The sports component of Rizal @ 150, composed of 150 bikers started during the night of June 16 at Calamba City Hall, the birth place of DR. Jose Rizal near the 22 ft.-tallest Rizal Monument. It attracted thousands of Lagunenses along the main roads where it passed and created huge awareness as to the rizal @ 150 Celebration. The successful Bike event was participated by policemen from all parts of Laguna.
The second part and the traditional Flag Raising Ceremony and the wreath-laying rites happened solemnly. It was again a well-attended occasion, graced by Rizal’s Descendants – Paciano branch led by Jose Rizal Lopez, daughter Marisa Lopez Houvet, Mr.&Ms. Virgilio & Doris Villarruz, Mr.&Ms. Cezar & Victoria Dinglasan, Ms. Mila Villarruz and Ms. Vim Villaruz. Mr. Mariano Filart of the Olympia branch caught the event after a guesting on a morning show which featured Dr. Jose Rizal. The Hon. Gov. Jeorge “E.R.” Ejercito Estregan arrived with beloved wife, Hon Mayor Girlie J. Ejercito, LMP President. Also present were officers of Knights of Rizal Calamba headed by Mr. Rosauro Suarez. The Pinagsabitan Lodge # 26 Mason was also present VW Alexis Noriel Albano of Mason District IV-A.
WB Jovie Babago of Pinagsabitan Lodge and their members. The ever supportive DepEd Laguna headed by Dr. Ester Lozada was also part of the program. The LAHACO members and some veterans and the Laguna University family also supported the event, Dr. Gualolarina Fernandez, the Dean of College of education was the Master of Ceremonies as usual. The provincial government employees and the Provincial Capitol Band made the celebration livelier. The highlights included the ceremonial Dove release and Balloon release to the joy and applause of the crowd, there were the symbolic parts which reflected the freedom gained through Rizal’s sacrifice for his beloved motherland and 150 balloons symbolized the birth celebration of the nation’s foremost national hero.
The ceremonial unveiling and blessing of the Gen. Paciano Rizal monument was one of the Provincial Capitol’s celebrations, Rizal @ 150. After years of proposal, through Gov. ER’s aspiration to honor Laguna heroes and the full support of Col. Gilbert DC. Cruz, Laguna PNP Headquarters was formally named as Kampo Hen. Paciano Rizal. The Paciano Descendants led by Jose Rizal Lopez (Lolo Peping) gifted the camp with a portrait of the chivalrous general. This was also graced by Regional Director Meneses and other PNP Officers of Laguna. Finally the local police now has more reasons to be inspired and motivated within the course of fulfilling their duties to maintain peace and order, a heroic role expected of men And women in uniform. 1.3 Free Summer Theater Workshop and Rizal, A Musical Concert as Culminating Activity

The Provincial Government of Laguna offered a Free Summer Theater Workshop from April 29-June18, 2011. Our division, the History Arts, and Culture Division was the one in-charge of the whole activity which started on April 29-30, 2011 as the screening period for the workshoppers. It was handled by the Gantimpala-affiliated technical group headed by Director Allan de Leon and his staff, Rene Nisperos, Glaiza Venzuela and Michael de Vera.
The participants/workshoppers were youth/young artists ages 13-28 and all Laguna residents. Most of them are in-school and majorities are from the Laguna University. Some were talents from the La Laguna Festival, like the Amateur Singing Competition, Dance Revolution and Street Dancing Competition while some were the original cast of the the Sino Ka Ba Jose Rizal? Musical Play in 2005.
The theater-workshop ran smoothly for 20 days which includes the rehearsals for their culminating shows which is entitled Rizal, A Musical Concert. It was fully supported by Mr. Delto A. Abarquez, Jr. the Department head of the newly merged Laguna Tourism, Culture, Arts & Trade Office (LTCATO). The rehearsal was also visited by the famous comedienne Ms. Cacai Bautista who was one of the theater facilitators in the 2005 Rizal Musical, a project of the former Board Member Marco S. Sison and HACO.
The culminating shows were successfully staged in Calamba City on June 19, 2011 at the LLC Auditorium. It received a standing ovation from the students, DepEd Supervisors and faculty members. The Executive Director of LAHACO, Dr. Virgilio R. Lazaga and Ms. Cacai Bautista were also present to support the marvelous performance. The second show at the Event Center of SM City Sta. Rosa was VIP-Day. The thundering applause during the 2nd standing ovation came from the 3, 000 High School Students and Rizal's descendants, from the Paciano Branch and Saturnina Branch. Also present VIP's were Mrs. Emelita Almozara the Deputy Executive Director of the NHCP, Mr. Spittael a Belgian Rizal Historian/researcher, Tourism and Cultural officers, Dr. Anacleto Millendez of Sunnyvale, California and the Founder/Chair of tehe Beautiful Heart Foundation and the SM Supermalls executives.
The Final show on July 6, 2011 at the Cultural Center of Laguna, Sta. Cruz, Laguna. It was attended by the PGL's employees and the ever-supportive first couple of Laguna Governor Jeorge "E.R." Ejercito Estregan and his lovely wife President of LMP, Hon. Girlie J. Ejercito. Present also were the department heads and our Provincial Administrator, Atty. Leonardo M. Ragaza, Jr. The show, as usual ended w/ another standing ovation for the awed audience. Gov. 1.4 Flag Day Exhibit

This historic event is celebrated yearly on the 28th of May during which commemorative programs are held in different parts of the Philippines. It marks the unofficial unfurling of the Philippine flag after the triumphant. Filipino revolutionaries defeated the Spaniards in the Battle of Alapan in Imus, Cavite.
The exhibits materials came from the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP), our national partner on historical programs. The tarpaulins show the hisftory of the Philippine Flag, starting from the time it was sewn in Hong Kong by Doña Marcela Agoncillo, Delfina Herbosa de Natividad (Jose Rizal's niece), Lorenza Agoncillo (Marcela's daughter).
