Laguna Medical Center

February 17, 2017

The Foreign Surgical and Medical Mission (FSMM) team succeeded in the delivery of healthcare services to our kababayanson January 27 – 30, 2017 at the Laguna Medical Center, Sta. Cruz, Laguna.

As stated in DOH Administrative Order No. 0030, S. 2012, FSSMs in the Philippines are activities where medical interventions and/or surgical services are provided to select underserved areas and communities by a foreign individual or an organization in partnership with a local facility, usually a local government unit hospital.  These missions serve as means of professional advancement and venues by which foreign medical practitioners can share their talents, skills and expertise.

Through the initiative of the North Texas Association of Philippine Physicians headed by Dr. Asuncion Acosta (President), in cooperation with the Provincial Government of Laguna and the Laguna Medical Center, healthcare services such as medical and padiatric consultations, diagnostic examinations, cardio-pulmonary clearances, and different surgical procedures were rendered to three hundred twenty-two (322) patients from the four (4) congressional districts of Laguna and nearby provinces.

In addition, theFSMM team was able to attendto two hundred five (205) OPD consultations, sixty-seven (67) minor surgical procedures and forty-eight (48) major surgical procedures.  Two of the scheduled patients for the major surgical procedures were deferred.
