Laguna holds Anti-Illegal Drug Summit

    Governor Ramil L. Hernandez, as the Chairperson of the Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC) in Laguna, hosted the Anti-Illegal Drug Summit/Orientation for Barangay Chairpersons and other concerned agencies on Drug Clearing, E-CLIP, RA 10591 and Community Mobilization Project.

    The Summit aims to inform and educate all concerned stakeholders on the drug menace, its ill effects including issues and concerns and elicit their active participation in the implementation of interventions towards treatment and rehabilitation of drug surrenderees.

    Provincial Director Norman Balquiedra of PDEA-Laguna discussed the situation update on illegal drugs in the region.

    On the other hand, Local Government Operations Officer Jnysz Montejo of DILG-Laguna discussed the DDB-DILG Joint Memorandum Circular No. 2018-01 also known as the “Implementing Guidelines on the Functionality and Effectiveness of Local Anti-Drug Abuse Council.”

    Ms. Montejo also explained the Enhance Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) which seeks to contribute toward achieving the goal of permanent and peaceful closure of all armed conflicts. The E-CLIP was established to provide social welfare services which include programs and projects for rebel returnees. She added that it is a complete package of assistance to former rebels which is the beneficiaries of the program.

    Meanwhile, Assistant Regional Chief PSupt Mary Ann Alisdan of Regional Civil Security Unit (RCSU) IV-A specified the Implementing Rules and Regulations of Republic Act 10591 otherwise known as the “Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act,” including the License to Own and Possess Firearms (LTOPF) that is being implemented in the province of Laguna.

    This undertaking was a joint effort conducted by the Philippine National Police (PNP), Police Regional Office (PRO) IV-A CALABARZON, Laguna Police Provincial Office (LPPO), Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), in cooperation with the provincial government of Laguna.

    The activity was attended by City and Municipal Mayors, City and Municipal Local Government Operations Officers (LGOO), Force Commanders, Chiefs of Police, Barangay Chairpersons and Sangguniang Kabataan Chairpersons from different Cities and Municipalities of Laguna.
