Laguna OPV acts on bird flu issue

In view of the avian influenza or bird flu outbreak in San Luis, Pampanga, head of the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian (OPV) of Laguna Dr. Mary Grace M. Bustamante issued Memorandum Circular (MC.) No.01, series of 2017 stating that the OPV will temporarily stop issuing veterinary health certificates or shipping permits for chickens, day old chicks, eggs, manure, and semen going to Visayas and Mindanao and to the island provinces of Luzon which includes Batanes, Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan, Catanduanes and Masbate.

Second FFS-SPF in Sta. Cruz, Laguna

Another Farmers’ Field School on Sustainable Pig Farming (FFS-SPF) was launched on July 19, 2017 in Barangay Bubukal, Sta. Cruz, Laguna. This is a partnership between the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian and the Jesus the Anointed One Church headed by Rev. Victoria Bandillo. The participants are all members of the Jesus the Anointed One Church who are into swine and poultry raising.

OPV hosts flag raising ceremony

The Office of the Provincial Veterinarian headed by Dr. Mary Grace Bustamante hosted Monday’s flag raising ceremony held at the provincial capitol Time Plaza on May 15, 2017. Dr. Bustamante reported on the accomplishments of the OPV for the past year.

PVO Rabies Information Campaign Intensifies

The Provincial Veterinary Office of Laguna (PVO) is continuously conducting information, education and awareness campaign on rabies in the province. The campaign aims to educate the public on Republic Act 9482, also known as the Anti-Rabies Act of 2007 which focuses on what is rabies, its prevention, proper handling of dog bites and responsible pet ownership

Laguna Farmers Trained to become Entrepreneurs

The Provincial Government of Laguna (PGL) through its Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO) trained a total of 43 farmers from the municipalities of Nagcarlan and Pila to become farmer-entrepreneurs from March to July, 2016.
