Laguna’s Batang Pinoy medalists also Palaro’s finest

April 23-24, 2018 - The Laguna Batang Pinoy Swimming and Pencak Silat Teams paid their respective courtesy calls on Sports Development Officer Gerardo S. Cantada after seizing medals in the 2018 Palarong Pambansa held in Vigan City from April 15-21.

 

Prince Dave T. Calma won the gold medal in the 100m backstroke elementary boys while, Kazandra Ogalesco brought home a gold and bronze medal in Pencak Silat.

 

Furthermore, swimmer Mariah Genara R. Ubaldo ranked 5th in the 200m fly secondary girls. In Pencak Silat, four additional medals were delivered by Kyle Ivan R. De Lima, Ziara Mari Oquindo, Valeri Ogalesco and Julius Derla.

 

Calma and Ubaldo are both members of the Laguna Barracudas Swim Team and are being trained by Coach Crisanto C. Balita, Jr. On the other hand, the Pencak Silat Team is being trained by Coach Saimon B. Brondo.

 

Both teams extended their gratitude to the Provincial Government of Laguna and Governor Ramil L. Hernandez for the province’s continued support and assistance to their trainings, programs and competitions. They will continue to train in preparation for the Batang Pinoy National Finals which will be held on September 2018 in Baguio City.
